The lyrics below are the two senior songs. Every year, the Lower Seniors learn and memorize these songs. The Upper Seniors teach the Lower Seniors the songs and it is the responsibility of the Lower Seniors to know both songs by initiation. However, it should not be thought of as a punishment, rather, a privilege. These songs have been learned and sung by seniors for decades. They are timeless songs that will never be forgotten. Come Alumni Day and Color War, when many alumni from many different years and decades return, we gather into a circle and recite the songs. Why do we do this? We do this because it is tradition. We do this to affirm the Son of Equinunk bond. It is a humbling and surreal experience to sing the songs with past seniors.

Bergy's Song |
High up on a mountain
Beneath the shade of a lofty pine Mighty seniors building a nation Of brave young men with peace their guideline No one can stop us now No foe can conquer our land Seniors unite… for Equinunk we stand Deep down in the valley Below the pine guarding senior men Hear the footsteps echoing loudly Of challengers who have thwart our nation Victory is in their dreams Our land they hope to invade Seniors will fight… for Equinunk today Both forces march blazing fire across the fields. The foe strikes our lines, but the seniors never yield fight, fight, fight. Now high on a mountain The battle cry in the distance dies As the seniors victors unbroken Renew their works under peaceful blue skies No one can stop us now No foe can conquer our land Seniors unite… for Equinunk we stand Both forces march blazing fire across the fields. The foe strikes our lines, but the seniors never yield fight, fight, fight. Now high on a mountain The battle cry in the distance dies As the seniors victors unbroken Renew their works under peaceful blue skies No one can stop us now No foe can conquer our land Seniors unite… for Equinunk we stand |
When I first saw this camp, the beauty flashed before my eyes
Now I’ve been here long, and learned this song, and grown to realize That it’s not just the birds, flowers, trees, that are the beauty that we see But it’s the people that we meet that make it seem so good to me CHORUS And the sun’s gonna keep on shining And the seniors gonna reign forever And the people at camp Equinunk Will be friends forever more Now the days pass by so fast, we think about the times we spent Laughing, playing, always saying, what senior spirit meant And the friends that I have made, will be faithful ‘til the end And when I think of camp, I will know I have a friend CHORUS Now camp is coming to a close, and we may cry and cry for days But we understand, that we will stand, together through life’s maze And throughout the fall, winter, and spring, we’ll think about the times we’ve spend Back her again, at Equinunk The tradition will never, the tradition will never, the tradition will never end. CHORUS (2-3 Times) |
